In
Palermo a meeting hold by Italcementi about the great Finnish architect . |

Since
its establishment, Italcementi has devoted great attention and interest
to the research world and the civil engineering and architectonic planning
ones. That is witnessed by the deep links with the Politecnico of Milan,
and the collaboration with other Universities all over the world, the
close collaboration with engineers' and architects' practices on occasion
of building of the most complex and meaningful works. Within this frame
the company presided over by the Engineer Giampiero Pesenti has established
the "Incontri Millennium", a program directed to foster acknowledgments
and reflection about the work of the main protagonists of the contemporaneous
architecture. Among those it could not certainly lack Alvar Aalto, the
architect that the most has drawn objects, architectures, towns that
first belonged to inhabitants, to men, and then to the author. Alvar
Aalto, on the other side, belongs to that great European tradition always
looking at the Mediterranean Sea, and especially at Italy, as an inspiring
place for planning. And just the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Palermo,
has been chosen as the place to celebrate this real artist. In the beautiful
frame of Palazzo Steri it has been hold the Meeting entitled: "Reconstructing
the beautiful in the next millennium towns. The mark of Alvar Aalto".
As masterly highlighted by the director of Ottagono, Aldo Colonetti,
"Town is the basic place for memory and for the desire of new planned
adventures. The main philosophers, lets' think to Plato, but mainly
architects, town planners, designers have always dreamed to establish
the ideal town. Contributing to turn our towns more liveable and beautiful
is a duty of all those who play a role in the building sector as well
as in town management and administration".
