The
Nuovo of Milan must have been the third stage of the tour of "An
American in Paris". Instead a dangerous accident to an eye prevented
Christian De Sica, and so his troupe, to perform the deadline. It's no use saying
that the expectation of the public was directed specially to the leading
man, Christian De Sica, whose versatility we know, but also his inclination
toward artistic choices, rather light. On the other side just De Sica,
in the launching press conference, admitted that certain movies that
are a commercial successes but surely not unforgettable allow him shotting
more serious movies, as a director, and making daring theatrical choices,
as this one undoubtedly is. He is the son of
the great Vittorio, he copes well in the role of actor-singer-dancer,
sided by a well structured cast: an experienced actress as Monica Scattini,
a growing popularity soubrette (Lorenza Mario), a dancer (Manuel Frattini)
and a "faithful" actor of his (Paolo Conticini). In these years
of great success of musicals in Italy, also "An American in Paris"
will likely be an event also in Naples, where the spectacle will arrive
in some weeks.
