L’Africa vera. Le rovine di Bagamoyo e l’antico mercato degli schiavi. Una terra incredibile ricca di magia ed atmosfera. Un’Africa suggestiva e capricciosa come le sue maree. La Tanzania è il paradiso dove il sole sorge prestissimo e dove gli occhi si riempiono di immagini e di colori che non si dimenticano più. Riecheggia nell’aria il canto “Bagamoyo, Bagamoyo” cioé “qui lascio il mio cuore” che gli schiavi cantavano prima di partire per il viaggio senza ritorno verso le piantagioni di tabacco. La pittoresca cittadina che in passato godette di vasta fama come avamposto nel commercio degli schiavi e punto di arrivo delle carovane trasportanti avorio, è tutt’ora testimonianza vivente del turbolento passato che vide diverse civiltà esercitare il proprio potere: gli arabi Shirazi di Persia, i Portoghesi, gli Arabi del sultanato dell’Oman a Zanzibar, i Tedeschi e gli Inglesi. La spiaggia di sabbia candida e fine su cui si affaccia il Livingstone Village offre un panorama selvaggio e suggestivo: da un lato è delimitata da una foresta di palme da cocco e magrovie, dall’altra lo sguardo abbraccia una vasta porzione di litorale rivolto verso sud-est dove è possibile scorgere vele al rientro della pesca e le attività quotidiane dei pescatori. 
Nelle acque antistanti tra la costa e Zanzibar, corre il reef corallino caratterizzato da fondali ricchi di vegetazione incontaminata e di svariata fauna. Qui, nei periodi di bassa marea, si svelano le cime degli atolli che si configurano come strisce di sabbia bianchissima a perdita d’occhio, meta delle escursioni giornaliere per le attività marittime. The Villaggio Club Vacanze Livingstone Village chose its name after the famous Scots explorer who was deeply remembered at Bagamoyo as a great benefactor thanks to his humanitarian activities to free the slaves. The picturesque town that was very famous in the past as the outpost of the slave trade as well as the point of arrival of the caravans that carried ivory, is still a living testimony of the troubled past that saw many civilisations exert their power: Persia's Shirazi Arabs, the Portuguese, the Arabs of the Oman's sultanate at Zanzibar, the Germans and the English. The beach with a white and fine sand on which the Livingstone Village is faced, offers a wild and suggestive panorama: one side is bounded by a forest of coconut palms and mangroves, in the other the eyes encounter a wide part of the coastal region heading south-east where it is possible to see the sails returning from fishing and the fishermen's daily activities. In the opposite waters between the coast and Zanzibar runs the coral reef with its depths made of a lush and unspoilt vegetation and rich fauna. Here, when the tide is low, it is easy to catch a glimpse of the peaks of the atolls that resemble stripes of a snow-white boundless sand, one of the daily excursions' places for the sea activities. Un villaggio piccolo, integrato perfettamente nelle bellezze del luogo, con solo dieci Bungalows (ogni bungalows contiene 4 camere) dal tipico tetto in Makuti e dall’arredamento che esalta il gusto e la tradizione locali con letti a baldacchino con zanzariera ed altri accessori tutti intagliati in legno pregiato. E’ davvero un piacere anche la cucina raffinata, arricchita da piatti tipici locali, grigliate e buffet, serviti in uno splendido ristorante situato in una piacevole veranda affacciata sul mare. Ogni giorno è una scoperta diversa. 
Come non farsi entusiasmare da una escursione sul fiume Ruvu, che dopo circa 30 minuti di percorso in pullman attraverso il Bush, costeggiando in barca le foreste di Mangrovie e risalendo il fiume dove possibile, ti presenta l’impagabile incontro con ippopotami, coccodrilli ed uccelli di ogni specie. Come non esaltarsi per la laguna di Mbegani grazie alla navigazione all’interno tra numerose isolette incontaminate e canali costeggiati da mangrovie ricche di fauna avicola, aspettando di ammirare gli stupefanti colori del tramonto africano. 
Piacevole anche il tour di Bagamoyo con la visita agli antichi palazzi e rovine risalenti al XIX secolo, epoca in cui Bagamoyo era la capitale della compagnia tedesca dell’Africa Orientale. La missione cattolica è la più antica dell’est Africa e conserva un museo sulla liberazione degli schiavi e sugli esploratori Burton, Livingstone, Stanley e Spike che qui vissero ed organizzarono le loro spedizioni verso l’interno. 
Affascinante il centro cittadino, il mercato della frutta, delle spezie ed il pittoresco mercato del pesce.  
Qualche ora dedicatela a Mlingotini, tranquillo villaggio dove i pescatori costruiscono sulla spiaggia caratteristiche imbarcazioni chiamate “Ngalawa” (canoe con bilancere). 
Occasionalmente si potrà assistere ai riti propiziatori di un Mwganga (dottore della foresta o stregone). 
E se la curiosità non si è ancora placata restano le rovine di Kaole, il Bush tour, il teatro di Bagamoyo, la messa all’antica missione. Concludete poi il soggiorno all’atollo di Manbwakuni con Snorkeling sulla barriera corallina. 
Dopo 40 minuti di navigazione, si raggiungerà uno splendido atollo di sabbia bianchissima, affiorante durante la bassa marea. Ideale per un bagno di sole e per nuotare in uno splendido mare caldo.

Just as charming are the town centre, the market of fruits and spices and the picturesque fish market.  
Spend some time at Mlingotini, a peaceful village where fishermen build typical boats called “Ngalawa” (canoes with a balancing pole) on the beach.  
Now and then, it will also be possible to see the propitiatory rites of a Mwganga (the doctor of the forest or medicine man).  
If your curiosity continues to be strong, you can visit the ruins of Kaole, do the Bush tour, see Bagamoyo's theatre and the old mission's mass. End your trip by staying at Manbwakuni's atoll and snorkelling in the coral reef.  
After a 40 minute navigation, you'll reach a wonderful atoll of snow-white sand that surfaces during the low tide, the ideal place for a sun bath and to swim in a splendid warm sea.
