After
all the film interpretations one can possibly imagine, it is now the turn
of the theatre to give a new version
of Frankenstein's story.
So it is now up to Tullio Solenghi, Antonello Dose and Marco Presta to bring the scientist with the fixed idea of giving life to a new creature back to life. And they did it in their own way. As Italy's most famous coffee-drinker stated: “Telling Frankenstein's story and leaving him unaffected by these years' events was a useless thing, I believed. So we thought it was fundamental to sacrifice the double Creator - Creature to the media”. This is how Frankensteinmusical, currently being performed at Milan's Teatro Carcano, was born. The creature of the trio (an outstanding trio, clearly) made by Solenghi, Dose and Pesta, also thanks to Daniele Silvestri's music, manages to keep the public's attention alive especially in the first half of the show, whereas it becomes a little less interesting in the second half. Near Solenghi the good Giancarlo Cosentino as a revenue officer and Donatello Falchi as Igor particularly stand
out.
It is a nice show that certainly Solenghi built for himself and whose attraction clearly depends on his histrionic qualities. Even if the show will not go down in history as one of the most beautiful Italian musicals - I don't think its authors expect that - Frankensteinmusical at least deserves to be remembered because it doesn't take things too seriously and gives the public two hours of sheer fun.
