The
Curie 2000 Prize An acknowledgment for women radiologists .
The 39°
SIRM's national congress- recently hold, as usual at the Fair of Milan
pavilions - reasserted the important presence of women radiologist inside
a scientific society of great prestige and tradition. As regard to tradition,
the Marie Curie Prize is consolidating even more and has got to the
second edition; by this initiative the Council of the Woman Radiologists,
every two years, intend awarding its acknowledgment to the work of a
researcher especially standing out in the radiologist discipline. This
year the Curie Award- patronized, as the previous one, by Nycomed Amersham-Sorin.
The winner was Giovanna
Maria Trecate, researcher at the Cancer Institute of Milan. The Curie
prize was awarded also to Professor Adelfio Elio Cardinale, outgoing
president of the SIRM, to Sandra Giavelli, founder and coordinator of
the Women Radiologists Council, to Genina Iacoboni, Leadership Medica's
director and to Dr. Luciano Rossi and Dr. Dario Tugnoli. We issue the
whole paper of Dr. Trecate, to assert once more the engagement of our
magazine in supporting the scientific research, male or female, as long
as it's of quality. We remember that the new SIRM's president is Professor
Carlo Del Favero, who directs the diagnostics by images at the Valduce
Hospital of Como.
