Graduated
at Sydney University in 1953, he joined the staff of the Walter and
Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne in 1954. From
1965-66 he was head of the Cancer Research Unit and Assistant Director
of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, and in 1966 was appointed
as Emeritus Professor of the University of Melbourne. Member of major
international association for the study of oncology and hematology,
he serves on the editorial board of 14 international scientific journals
in his field. He has published more than 600 scientific papers and
seven books. He has been awarded numerous prestigious international
prizes, the latest of which is the International Chiron Award.
