Born
in Milan 1938. Since 1983, he is Professor and Chairman of Clinical
Psychiatry at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy. He carried-out
several clinical trials on the drug treatment of anxiety, mood and
schizophrenic disorders with innovative drugs and conducted validations
of psychiatric rating scales at the Department of Psychiatry, Umberto
I General Hospital of the University of Rome "La Sapienza", both at
the ward and at the outpatient facility, of which he is the Director.
He authored more than 300 scientific publications on Psychometrics,
Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology, Psychopharmacology, Psychosomatics,
clinical trials in Psychiatry, and Psychoneuroendocrinology. He is
the author or editor of numerous books on Psychopathology, Clinical
Psychiatry, Psychometrics (psychiatric assessment, questionaires and
rating scales), Psychosomatics and Psychoneuroendocrinology. He is
Editor-in-Chief of the "Italian Treatise of Psychiatry" and of the
"Handbook of Psychosomatics". He is the President of the Italian Foundation
for the Study of Schizophrenia (FIS) and of the Italian Society for
Psychopathology (SOPSI). He is Director of the following scientific
journals: Rivista di Psichiatria (Rome); Giornale Italiano di Psicopatologia
(Pisa, co-edited with Professor Giovanni Battista Cassano). |
