Prof. Adelfio Elio Cardinale, reconfirmed President of the Medical Radiology Italian Society, opened the 38th edition of SIRM, into the presence of Ministry of Health Rosy Bindi, wishing that radiology could carry on the integration with the other medical doctrines.  Basically, it's not unuseful to recall, there is the need that medical science could get to therapeutically developments always more effective and less invasive.  An item that finds particular attention on this number of our review, dedicated to the great problems of bioethics. With respect to the meetings during the Congress, we've particularly looked at the activity of the Radiology Women Council of which, as readers would remember, 'Leadership medica' published  the proceedings of the first National Congress.  The Council, chaired by Professor Sandra Giavelli, head physician of Radiology at the Institute Pio Albergo Trivulzio, Milan, has prompted the subject of all the Congress: 'Ethics and medical profession'. The activity of the Council during this first year of life has expressed itself in the institution of the Maria Curie Prize, dedicated to the women radiologists. Finally we remind that Teresa Cammarota, head physician of radiology at Molinette in Turin and recent leader of our journal, is a new member of the Management Committee of SIRM.
