Alberto Freddi

 

 

 
 

 
 
Born in Terni in 1940,has been Head, for more than 20 years, of the Neurophysiopathological, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services of the “St. Maria” of Terni (High Specialisation Hospital). 

Graduated in 1964 in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Studies in Rome and he is a specialist in Nervous and Mental Illness and in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 

He is author of more than 110 scientific publications, published in specialised medical journals both Italian and foreign. 
As Editor, he published 10 scientific volumes relevant to his own specialisations. 

In the last ten years he has been invited, as speaker or as chairman, to more than 100 national and international Congresses. 
He has promoted the organisation of numerous national and international Congresses, 11 National Refresher Courses, Conventions and Seminars in his own discipline. 

For more than six years he was National Vice President of the Italian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation(S.I.M.F.E.R.).  

He is the Italian representative of the International Federation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is an active Member of the New York Academy of Sciences. 

Project Manager of the European Project “VETIR”(Virtual Environments Technologies in Rehabilitation), in the area of the TIDE Programme of the EU. 

In 1998, he was in charge of the scientific organisation, as Vice President, of the 1o World Congress “The Genetics of Neuroscience”, in close collaboration with the John Hopkins University of Baltimore. 
In the year 2000, as President, he will be in charge of setting up the 2o Congress on the same theme, also in collaboration with the John Hopkins University. 
He is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Montecatone Foundation and the Agarini Foundation. 

In 1985 he completed, at the II University of Studies in Rome, the School Diploma aimed at specialising in Scientific Medical Journalism. 

Alongside intense scientific activity in his own sector, Professor Freddi has made a notable contribution to the world of culture (novels, essays, articles of a scientific nature, scientific videotapes, television broadcasts of a scientific nature, as well as productions for the theatre and radio).
