Born in Arezzo (Tuscany) in 1948.
1973 - Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in Florence.
1974 - Began work at the Ospedale di Stia (AR) as Assistant Physician
in Functional Rehabilitation and Recovery.
Specialized in Geriatrics in Florence, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
in Milan, and in the Organization of Nosocomial Structures in Siena.
Continued his career as hospital physician in Functional Rehab. and Recovery
as Assistant and then as Assistant-to-Chief at the Ospedale del Casentino.
1988 - Through a public competitive examination, became Dept. Chief of
Functional Rehabilitation and Recovery at the Ospedale di Arezzo.
A lecturer since 1985 at the University of Siena and since 1989 in the
School for Specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at
the University of Florence, has become, since 1999, Lecturer at the
University of Roma Tor Vergata.
Has acquired three National Testimonials in his role as Dept. Chief in
the years 1989-92 and, in 1995, passed the admission examinations for
the European Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Since 1990,
has been the appointed FNOOM representative of Italian Physiatrists
in the European Union: was elected in April 1999 as the Vice-President
of the European Federation of Physiatrics.
Is Editor-in-charge of the journal “Ausili ed Ortesi in Medicina”
(Aids and Ortheses in Medicine), has promoted and realized several scientific
conventions and study or update initiatives, nationally and internationally,
and has co-operated in the compilation of numerous manuals and didactic
texts.
Has produced, either alone or together with pupils or collaborators,
more than 160 scientific works in his field, published in Italian and
international journals.
At the beginning of 1999, became Dept. Chief of Neuromotor Rehabilitation
at the “Madonna della Letizia di Velletri” nursing home.
