We were convinced that the ability to be everywhere at once belonged to saints, shamans, lamas and so on, instead we have discovered that in our country this ability is not a prerogative of the saints only.
This statement of fact has brought us to a psychological uneasiness and a unbelievable frustration; we, poor mortals, hardly succeed to be in only a place, to practice one job and often in the evening we are not able to read even a page of a book or an article of the newspaper.
Not to be vague and not to assert only virtual statements, let's do some positive examples of omnipresence: Dr. Claudio Macchi is at the same time General Director of the Besta Institute of Milan, General Director of the Hospital of Siena, Commissioner of the United Clinics of Bari (I wonder how many are his less famous charges).
Macchi's life is a whirl; to practice, we do not say well, but normally only one of his charges, he must be present every day in each one of this jobs, overcharged of work as all us. Siena, Milan, Bari, to which it must be added the Roman breaks at the Ministry of Health, the attendance at specialist conferences, the meetings at the Ministry for Industry, the meetings with the ASL are engagements to be performed daily.
The same happens in politics to personages as Rutelli, Major of Rome. Rome is a capital, with all its problems, and now having even those deriving from the coming of the Jubilee. Furthermore it does not lack the participation to the talk shows and songs sing in town squares. Rutelli, not engaged enough, practices by now the activity of European parliamentarian.
It does not lack examples of omnipresence in the economic world too.
The Dictionary of the shareholder (issued by Mediobanca) lists the administrators and auditors of the listed companies; leafing it through one is aware about how many 'personages' have (or must have) the gift of being at the same time in a plurality of meetings. The ubiquity is anyway a gift corresponding to the VIP of economy.
Bewitched by so much excessive concern with efficiency, we tried to discover the secret. After thinking it about here it is our lighting: everything can be done by the means of meditation! Meditation as it is known must be done sitting, in contemplation, only concentrating, while body virtually moves somewhere else. Obviously this is allowed only to lofty minds.
By the means of meditation and a little practice, it is possible to achieve the ubiquity gift and that's why Macchi, Rutelli and partners are so efficient: they meditate, they  answer letters meditating, they give the required indications to manage firms while they are listening to the sound of roaring streams and the twittering of little birds.
After these considerations in the editorial office our collaborators have tried too: all seated, in silence, hands over the knees and palms turned up, trying with thought to carry out their job and maybe one of them leaving for far-away countries. Suddenly the ring of telephone broke the spell; maybe that's why the work is still there all to be done. We are really poor people, meditation does not work with us.
As regards to, how much does it cost us an hour of mediation of these lofty minds?
Lacking jobs, the cut-off of the health expenditure, the several prescription charges citizens are imposed with, the division of physicians'  professional practice into public and private, for these initiates it would be worth while make them hold only a charge, wouldn't it? But the minister does not practise what she preaches.
