1934 - Born in Perugia (Umbria) 1959 - Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome, followed by post-graduate studies at the School of Surgery in Bologna under the direction of Prof. Pietro Tagariello, first in Surgical Pathology and then in Clinical Surgery. 1960 - Began work in General Surgery as an Assistant Lecturer on the permanent staff and qualified for university teaching in Special Surgical Pathology, Clinical Surgery and Vascular Surgery. 1971 - Became temporarily attached Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Bologna, and full professor in 1973. In these years Prof. D'Addato concentrated his clinical and research interests on Vascular Surgery, furthering his experience with sojourns in America and, especially, in France with Prof. Charles Dubost at the Hôpital Broussai in Paris. 1978 - Became Director of the Vascular Surgery Service that was established at this time within the “Policlinico Universitario S. Orsola” in Bologna. In 1971, had assumed the running of the Vascular Surgery Specialization School in the University of Bologna. Since 1995, has been co-ordinator of the Research Doctorate in “Experimental clinical disciplines in cardiovascular chest surgery”. Since 1996, has been a Member
of the “Senatus Academicus"
In the Vascular Surgery Service,
all vascular disorders are addressed but with particular interests in carotid
surgery, renovascular hypertension, arterial trauma and aneurysms. Current
surgical objectives lie in endovascular surgery, thoracoabdominal aneurysms
and aortic transplantation.
