 The
personality of Maria Lucia Soarez Baroness de Cocais has a special feature;
in a world where often dialogues and overtures are carried out by the means
of troubled contacts, with suffered introspection and murmuring confessions,
the bursting personality of the Brazilian artist breaks out into an irresistible
and catching happiness of being, showing itself in all her creations.
The form flowers into splendid shining laceworks of stones and the harmony unwinds, in the counterpoint of daring colours, on the mysterious and velvet background of the alcantara texture. Multicoloured Brazilian birds are so 'live' that it seems to hear their merry  chattering,
and her famous tigers, filtering in the icy glance their terrible strength
that makes us feel as if they were coming toward us, show a triumphal behaviour
of domain.
But fabulous landscapes, magic and cheering, open the heart to the visualisation of a nature, maybe dreamed and never enjoyed. With surprising skill Maria Lucia Soarez expresses the suggestions coming from her feminine figures: we could divide them into sun  creatures
and night creatures. We admire a mysterious figure of woman interwove in
precious golden arabesques; she brings us to the myth of ancient vestals,
of pagan dispensers of philtres for happiness and fatal destinies. A nude,
faced and dark, embellished with azure flowers appears to us as a mysterious
woman-tree to three young women, chaste in their evanescent nudity traced
by the light of stones like diamonds, and certainly evokes night atmospheres.
It's hard to define the art of Maria Lucia Soarez as painting or laceworks, we would like to define it as an artistic expression practically unique that exalts the feminine manual ability as an expressive mean of atmospheres also metaphysical, a rare language to tell the world that happiness is inside us. It must be known how to look for it and we can find it also in her works. .....  |
