These
days there are many topics of controversy between the political groupings,
not only between the two “poles” but also within each.
It
seems that the centre-left has developed a taste for own goals, at least
if we look at the position against the Vatican taken by minister Bordon
on the ‘damage’ produced by electromagnetic waves.
The
same thing is happening with the Lombardy referendum, so detested by
the parliamentary majority as to make it lose its sense of proportion;
since the referendum is merely consultative, there was no reason for
a clash over it.
All
that demonstrates to the electorate in general how deeply the fear of
losing the elections is ingrained in the centre-left, seeing that every
initiative by the opposition is immediately contested. The controversy
between the Greens and minister Veronesi is truly an indicator of the
extent to which certain claims are mere pretexts and devoid of all scientific
foundation. Veronesi can be accused of a number of questionable declarations,
but his competence in the field of oncology in unquestionable.
The
nearer the elections, the more of these stupidities we shall hear in
both line-ups. The loss of a place involves many problems, from which
the leaders themselves are not immune, especially in the centre left,
where they abound. This is the situation facing Sergio Mattarella, candidate
at Trento, where he is up against Tarcisio Grandi, vice-president of
the Region, who also wears the Marguerite in his buttonhole. Then the
UDEUR complains of having suffered a knock-out blow in Calabria from
the DS, which has entered its own candidate in place of the retiring
deputy La Macchia.
Then,
there are the political ambitions of Bossi’s former driver, who has
presented a list of his own, described as a “flirt” by Di Pietro and
Refoundation, who democratically do not recognise the right of others
to present their own lists. (traduzione Interpres sas-Giussano)
