The first days of 1999, the last year of the Millennium, has been feature, in the political environment of our country, by several events. The visit of the Prime Minister D'Alema in Vatican has been an historical event for Italy, but it was surely not for His Holiness, since he has already met communist leaders, being the last one Fidel Castro.

This is the politic of the Papal State. Another event has been the crime emergency becoming more and more ungovernable along with immigration. In the field that particularly concerns more our masthead, that is health, it has burst the storm since the measures presented by the government's financial plan. The institution of the 'income indicator for health', that is the well-known “ certificate of indigence “, that will point out soon in march who will pay the prescription and analysis charge and how, has provoked the stormy protest of family doctors. Not less the hospital physicians, compelled to make a choice about their professional practice, between public and private.
