The
meetings organized to deal with various serious issues turned out to
be, to speak in real terms, a total fiasco.
The
Genoa meeting on drugs saw the various participants to face each other
with their proposals, but in the end nothing was decided.
The
Palermo conference on organized crime was all to the advantage of the
latter. On that occasion Pino Arlacchi, the UN undersecretary, even
declared that Mafia is now defeated.
Arlacchi
evidently lives in his own personal reality, which is not even a virtual
one, as it is sufficient to enter some Internet sites to realize that
organized mafia also exists in this field.
While
all that happens, at the Committee of Hygiene of the Senate, Ombretta
Fumagalli Carulli, a member of Parliament who has left the Pole with
Mastella to enter the Olive Tree coalition, examined, as the undersecretary
of the Ministry of Health, the “Forecast-type budget of State for the
financial year 2001 and the multiyear budget for the three-year period
2001-2003, approved by the Chamber of Deputies.
