CARLO POZZILLI

Prof. Pozzilli was born in Rome on 6 June 1954.
On 16 July 1979 he graduated, summa cum laude, in Medicine and Surgery at “La Sapienza” University in Rome.
On 22 November 1983 he specialised with full marks in Neurology at the 1st School of Neurology. In June 1988 he qualified as Doctor of Research in Clinical Behavioural Neuroscience at “La Sapienza” University in Rome Since 1 October 1989 he is Assistant to the 1st chair of Neurological Clinic – Department of Neurological Science of “La Sapienza” University in Rome. He is also Coordinator of the Multiple Sclerosis Service.
He was Technical Officer from 1988 to 1998 and has been Researcher since 1998 at the 1st Neurological Clinic of the Dep. of Neurological Science of “La Sapienza” University in Rome. He attained national qualification as Associate Professor in January 2000.
Since 1 November 2000, he is Associate Professor within the Neurology Department of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of “La Sapienza” University in Rome.

Experience abroad: from March 1980 to December 1980 he was “Research Fellow” at the Medical Research Council, Cyclotron Unit, of Hammersmith Hospital in London. From January to June 1986, he was “Research Fellow” at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of Tohoku University in Sandai, Japan.

Chief research areas: Demyelinizing Diseases – Multiple Sclerosis. He is a member of E.C.T.R.I.M.S., the European Executive Committee for Multiple Sclerosis, since 1996. The results of his research work are the subject of 108 scientific papers published on international journals (“Peer Reviewed Articles”).
In addition, he is the author of 32 articles included in international books, of 162 articles included in the proceedings of International Congresses, of 47 articles published on national journals or books and of 30 articles included in the proceedings of National Congresses, amounting to 379 papers altogether.
