Francesco Provenzano

Montecitorio and Palazzo Chigi are buzzing with talk of the return of the exiled Savoy family, as if the Italians care. We believe it matters no more to the politicians than a bit of gossip. In the meantime, the Minister of the Interior Bianco, reassured his fellow countrymen by saying that the number of murders has fallen (though robberies have increased) and supplying the relative percentages. Needless to say, for the unfortunate victims of the crimes, the figures nevertheless correspond to 100%. As the country gets ready for the general election and the government attempts to pass laws in an obstacle race against time and catch up with lost time by what it should have done in five years in just two months. And so it is that without the electoral reform, we prepare to be governed by the minority parties yet again, whatever the outcome of the election. As far as parliamentary work is concerned, the Senate’s Health Commission has discussed the law on “rules and regulations governing the profession of dentistry”, which has already been passed by the Lower Chamber.
