Curriculum vitae Claude Deschamps

Claude Deschamps is from Montreal, Canada, where he was born in 1955.

He graduated from the local University Medical School in 1980 (MD degree).

He has been entitled to the Canadian Board Certification in General Surgery (1984) and Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (1989).

Between 1985 and 1989, he has been a Research Fellow of the Thoracic Disease Laboratory of the Mayo Clinic, and Resident in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota.

He is also Board Certified by the American Board of General Surgery. Serving as Consultant in the Section of General Thoracic Surgery since 1990, and, as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine since 1991, Claude Deschamps has been involved in all fields of General Thoracic Surgery, operating on thousands of patients with pleuro-pulmonary, chest wall, esophageal and mediastinal surgical diseases.

He is Head of Scientific Research of the Section of General Thoracic Surgery and Member of the most prestigious North American and International Surgical Societies.

He is author, or co-author, of 88 papers – 27 of which as chapters in textbooks – and 33 abstracts.

He has been invited as a Qualified Lecturer in 85 national or international meetings, 15 of which with LVRS as the main topic.

On December 7, 1998, Prof. Deschamps has been invited to give a Lecture on LVRS at the E. Morelli Regional Hospital in Sondalo (Sondrio) Italy.

The invitation has been formulated by Dr. Gaetano Rocco, who has worked as a Clinical Fellow under Prof. Deschamps, and is currently Staff Thoracic Surgeon – Division of General Thoracic Surgery (Head: Dr. Adriano Rizzi).
