Curriculum Vitae Alberto FREDDI

Born in Terni (Italy) in 1940, he has been for over 20 years the Consultant of the Neurophysiopathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of the Terni Hospital (a highly specialised hospital complex, with a university seat).
During the year 2000, he was appointed Director of the Neuroscience and Neurorehabilitation Department of the “S. Maria” Hospital in Terni.
He graduated in 1964 in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome, and obtained a post-graduate specialisation (with top marks) in Nervous and Mental Illness Clinic as well as a specialisation (summa cum laude) in Physiatrics. He is the author of over 120 scientific publications and has edited the publication of 12 volumes covering subjects relating to his areas of specialisation.
Since 1998 he is an Active Member of the New York Accademy of Sciences and, as from 2001, he has become a Member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
He is the Italian representative for the International Federation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and he is on the editorial board of a number of scientific journals in the field of Neurorehabilitation.
Over the last fifteen years he has been invited to take part, as Speaker or Chairman, in over 100 Congresses, and he has promoted the organisation of numerous national and international congresses.
During the year 2000, he has chaired the International Congress “Genetics in Neuroscience”, organised in cooperation with the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimora.
He promoted the International Congress on Demyelinizing Diseases affecting the Central Nervous System, which will be held in Gubbio, over the period 8 – 11 April 2002.
He is a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Agarini Foundation and of the Montecatone Foundation in Imola. He has been involved, as Project Manager, In the VETIR European Project (Virtual Environments Technologies in Rehabilitation), as part of the European Union TIDE Programme.
He is a Member of regional Scientific Committees. He has been a lecturer, for over 13 years, at the University of Perugia, at the University of Chieti and at the Tor Vergata University in Rome.
He has directed the School for the Physokinesis Therapy Diploma. He has obtained a diploma in Medical and Scientific Journalism at the II University of Rome. He is on the National Roll of Journalists since 8 November 1999.
