Born
in 1949 in Bagnara Calabra (Reggio Calabria), he was educated at Messina
University, where, in 1973, he took a medical degree. He specialized
in Nephrology at Pisa University. Since 1974, he works in the Nephrology
Department of the Riuniti Hospital in Reggio Calabria as a medical
specialist, in charge of the Haemodialysis Unit. Since 1976, he is
a researcher in the Clinical Physiology Centre of C.N.R. in Reggio
Calabria Since 1972, he is a tutor in the Postgraduate School of Nephrology,
Messina University. In the second half of the Seventies, he became
one of the first doctors in Italy to introduce renal Ultrasonography
as a routine diagnostic technique in Nephrology. He is a member of
the leading Council of the Study Group on Renal Ultrasonography of
the Italian Society of Nephrology. He is first author of several papers
published in national and international scientific journals, most
of them concerning ultrasonographic diagnosis in Nephrology.
