Born in Bologna on 15 March 1948 and graduated in Pharmacy at Bologna University in the 1972/73 academic year presenting an experimental thesis on the isolation of two triterpenoid acids from the berries of Schinus molle L.
In the II session of 1973 he obtained the qualification to practise the profession of pharmacist. Having attended the Postgraduate Course in Health Law at the Faculty of Law of Bologna University in the 1975/76 academic year, he passed the final oral exam. Afterwards he completed training at the same Postgraduate Course, having become a two-year course in the meantime, obtaining the relative diploma in the 1989/90 academic year, getting through all the examinations and the presentation of a thesis entitled: "Administrative authorization upon the eviction note to a pharmacy and problems associated with the personnel plan."

Activities in University collegial bodies

- President of the Biosphere Field of the University Librarian System (Bologna University);
- Member of the Ethical Committee of the Polyclinic S.Orsola-Malpighi (1996-98);
- Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the "Leonardo" Programme;
- Member of the Teaching Body of the Research Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences;
- Member of the Dean Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Teaching appointments

Prof. Maurizio Cini started teaching from his admittance to Bologna University in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology and Legislation holding all the academic career tenures, having recently gained success in an examination for a 1st category professor. He currently teaches Technology, Socioeconomics and Pharmaceutical Legislation I, for the Pharmacy degree course at Bologna and is responsible for technological-legislative teachings also at Imola and at two Postgraduate Schools. He was the founder and is director of the Postgraduate course in Galenic Technology and Legislation.

Scientific activity

Prof. Maurizio Cini is the author of over 70 publications in scientific and popular magazines and of over 50 congress papers.
