Abstract

Aneurysms of thoracic aorta have unfavourable natural history (20%survival rate at 5 years). Indications and surgical techniques are reviewed. The surgical management of this pathology changes the natural history allowing a 5 years survival of 60%. Aggressive surgical therapy is justified. Careful follow up of the patient is mandatory being the aneurysms expression of a multifocal disease of the aorta.
