At the end Schumacher strikes also this season. The world championship that is decided at the last race seems to be not his forte. Like a year ago when it was Villeneuve to punish the "Rossa", Hakkinen gives an encore to the deception of the racing stable of Maranello conquering his first world title. A world championship that seemed over, after the first Great Prix won by the McLaren's overpower and then opened up again by the Ferrari's catching up, realized till hooking after Monza. And it's just there the Modenese racing stable maybe lost the title. Mad with the possibility of getting back one's own racer to the iris after 14 years it did not happen, the racing stable, directed by Jean Todt, believed they had already caught the Austrian prey and to be prepared, playing over the psychological inertia, to overtake. Hakkinen has instead proved he is quite able to bear the pressure but also that the hey put in the farmstead along the foregoing months where not a fortuity. The McLaren's work and the standing of good results is the same that happened at the Suzuka. At Ferrari's, a false start, a hopeless chasing with risky manoeuvres and the puncturing to surrender definitively condense the season the better way. The deception for the negative end at Maranello hasn't been so great then; measured, the regret of Schumacher, that of Montezemolo and even that of Todt. All declarations marked by "no justifications, the title was already lost " but overall by "we will succeed in 1999". We are already used to the Rossa' s fanciful promises since time. The important matter in a long and stressing season is the standing after a launched start. This year too, as in 1997, the Ferrari has failed these two basic requirements. It doesn't remain anything but attempt it as soon as possible. |
