It's hard that his feats can give the same results of the mythic predecessor. However Roberto Muzzi is attempting to make Cagliari great. He's by now the only one Italian scorer to keep pace with the great foreign bombers. But overall, he's surprising, along with the Sardinians, also the insiders and bringing to the island an unforeseen wave of optimism and grandeur. Now the 26 years old roman, grown in the yellow-red young ranks dreams him far from where he has imaged himself. He tried to play the role of the prophet in his own country. But a confusional-minded Roma preferred let him leave to go to gain experience in a so-called provincial sporting company. His qualities, maybe exalted by a pressure exempted environment situation, are discovered and directed by Carlo Mazzone, Bologna's present coach and Muzzi's coach at Roma and Cagliari in the past. Just during his experience in the Capital, Mazzone recommended the by this time 23 years old talent to take the Sardinia way. Muzzi has great means, a very good technical experience and overall he needs to play continuously to make himself sure of his own numbers. Paradoxically the serious accident of Alex Del Piero seems to complicate things for Roberto. The Juventus is professedly following his tracks to replace its own most representative goal-man, who will be absent for nearly six months due to ligaments lesion. It is known that it is not easy at all to say no to the most titled and winning sporting company of Italy. Also because Muzzi has recently asserted he is thinking it over to enter the entourage of the Dino Zoff's National team. And which better springboard could he find besides entering a great club, since ever deemed the distinguished shop window for selecting the azure players? Successes but interior torments too for the scorer who makes the Sardinians dream. There can be even some analogies with the great Riva, as we have seen. It remains to verify the most important one; Gigi, his time, gave up the Juventus chimeras, among others, keeping on under the Cagliari flag till his retirement. Roberto in brief must solve the reservations and the uncertainties about a future divided into the preservation of his prima donna position, conquered in the island, and climbing most prestigious professional top positions. |
